As the spring months begin, people are getting outside and starting to clean-up their yards. Todd Kramer and Tim Ayers, both with Kramer Tree Specialists, met with one group of volunteers from a local Wheaton church. This group has plans to help clean-up some of the remaining storm damage from last July for some of their members and friends. We heard they planned to rent and use chain saws which caused us some concern. While this tool can be extremely helpful, it also has the potential to be quite dangerous. Tim and Todd spent about an hour with this group explaining the various aspects of the tool and how it is safely operated. While on site, we also noticed they didn’t really need a chain saw for most of the work. We demonstrated how to move and neatly stack a majority of the brush so that it would be ready for a professional to collect. We also took the opportunity to explain that some jobs are better left for the professionals. While it often seems expensive to hire a professional, the cost is low compared to an injury caused by a chain saw. Our employees are trained to safely operate these tools and use them every day. Be careful as you get outside and begin your spring clean-up chores!
