The time eventually comes for trees to be removed. There are a variety of reasons this occurs. Reasons for removal may include new construction plans, storm damage or even disease, just to name a few. One aspect of large tree removal is the felling of the trunk. Felling a tree trunk can be considered a tricky task. Some factors that make this task more complicated include building obstructions, utility wires and high traffic areas. Many times there is limited space for the felling to occur. With the proper training, this task can be done safely. KTS employees are trained in proper felling techniques. It’s fairly easy for the trained eye to notice if the proper technique is being used. Things you can look for include keeping all non-essential people and workers out of the way. A second key trait is that the chain saw operator is clearly in charge of the task. This involves verbal communication with his team members. One last component involves using a rope to help guide the tree down. Typically one person is needed for this task. Once the final cut is made, the person pulls steadily on the rope and initiates the felling. If the proper cuts were made, the trunk will fall with precision. While many people will try this task, only professionally trained workers like ours have certainty in how this task is accomplished.
