To assist consumers in making the best decision for their tree care, the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) has developed the TCIA Accreditation credential, a program that stands as a critical standard for safe and professional tree care companies. This rigorous third-party verification, administered by TCIA, ensures Accredited company’s adherence to the highest standards of safety, ethics, and business practices. We have been TCIA Accredited since 2008 and recently completed our tri-annual audit to maintain this important credential!
Why Accreditation Matters
While many recognize ISA Certified Arborists, TCIA Accreditation is a qualifier for business operation, not just an individual credential. It’s a comprehensive program that helps clients identify companies committed to safe, legal, and ethical operations. This isn’t just about an individual’s qualifications and knowledge, it’s about a company-wide commitment to safe, professional arboriculture services.
The Rigorous TCIA Audit Process
Achieving and maintaining TCIA Accreditation involves a deep audit of our entire business. This audit looks over everything from our business plan and training resources to safety documentation, DOT compliance, financial practices, and equipment maintenance. The auditor also verifies that we maintain a Code of Ethics and possess all necessary licenses and insurance requirements.
Beyond paperwork, the audit demands a demonstrated commitment to safety and expertise. Accredited companies like KTS are required to have at least one CTS
P (Certified Treecare Safety Professional) for every 50 employees. Accreditation also requires at least one ISA Certified Arborist for every 10 employees.
